This project is a look inside a hidden pocket of Australian manufacturing, the last workshop of its kind in the country making high-precision gauges. Since 1947, they’ve quietly built the components that help keep everything from local trains running to aerospace and medical equipment functioning.
Walking onto the factory floor, you get a distinct feeling that time hasn't really moved here. The average tenure of a worker is nearly twenty years, and you can feel that patience in the room. This series is about that focus. The quiet pride of a specialised trade, the grit of old machinery, and the dedication it takes to work at a level where every fraction of a millimetre matters.
